Ringkamp Mountain Hike - Austria 2026
Join Greg Ringkamp, Michael Ringkamp, Todd Ringkamp, Joe Downey (my mom's a Ringkamp I promise), and PJ Slattery as we explore the breathtaking hikes on Ringkamp Mountain in September 2026. Alpine vistas, lush forests, and panoramic views truly showcase Austria's natural beauty.
We made it!
Greg, Michael, Todd, Joe and PJ have landed in Vienna.
Michael ordered us an “Uber XL” from the airport. A “6 seater” Toyota Prius showed up. The driver was not scared to pile us in. We made it to Vienna.
Day 1.
Schuster's
Before their ascent of Ringkamp Mountain, the Ringkamp family had the pleasure of visiting Schuster’s, a personal paradise at the foot of the Hochschwab. Surrounded by the spectacular panorama and peaceful tranquillity of the Hochschwab massif, Schuster’s offered the perfect retreat to host the travelers. The Ringkamp's had nothing but wonderful things to say about the warm hospitality they received from owner Silvia Schuster, whose welcome made the stay especially memorable. With a history spanning more than 200 years, Schuster’s carries a remarkable sense of tradition, and the family was honored to learn that they were reportedly the first Ringkamp's ever to visit the mountain.

The Ringkamp's "Hütte" stay
The Ringkamp family had a wonderful stay at the Voisthalerhütte, a mountain refuge in the Hochschwab region of Styria, Austria. After a rewarding hike through the alpine landscape, they found the hütte to be a welcoming and comfortable place to rest, eat, and tell stories. The family especially appreciated the delicious food and the genuinely helpful, attentive staff.
The Ringkamp’s Hütte stay was the perfect blend of cozy mountain charm and practical group lodging. The dorm-style sleeping arrangements made it feel like a fun shared adventure, with everyone together rather than spread across separate rooms. Downstairs, the basement’s impressively organized shoe rack was a standout—an ideal setup for keeping hiking boots neatly out of the way while preserving the tidy feel of the hütte.
Maja runs a clean, efficient and friendly Hütte operation with spectacular views. I KNOW we will be back.
